How to promote Corporate thinking

One of my employee was talking with another one, and though, I didn't want to eavesdrop on the conversation, I heard it to my great distaste. The employee was complaining that they were, in fact, "like slaves serving a master or the Corporation".

I immediately called over this employee to my office to fix this straight. I said to him: "Sit down my friend, we have to talk a bit." And I asked him straight away: "Do you like to work for this company?" He answered "yes". I added then: "Would you like eventually to progress in the company, and get paid better?" He answered "of course!". So I said to him: "The company works this way: there is a chain of command. You have to respect this chain for the company to work properly. If you are at the top of the chain, it's because you know what's best to do for the company, and you order it down to subordinates, who have equal chances to envision in a near future what the leader is envisioning, and gain the right to work directly with him. At the same time, the one at the top is also subordinate to the clients and the market. So you see that whether you are the top or at the bottom of the chain, we all need to obey. Obeying doesn't make the Chief Executive a slave, no more than it makes a subordinate a slave. You have to understand that we are sharing here the same interests, and that we work toward a common goal: a better future for society, and that's including you. You play an important role for us, because all the parts of the chain are necessary to reach this goal, and if you accept this situation and understand it fully, you will have great success with us and in life in general. Focus on positive thinking, and instead of asking yourself what the company can do for you, ask yourself what YOU can do for the company. Always remember: if we chose you, it's because you are the best."

I tell you, when this employee came out of my office, he wasn't a clerk anymore, he was already a Chief Executive! So you see, the power of words is very important to run a business. My advices: 1.Replace the disgusting word slave by subordinate (Nietzsche, Wille zur Macht) 2.Insist on the necessity of a chain of command 3.Insist on the important role played by each parts of the chain 4.Insist on the fact that the leader knows what's best to do for the company, because of his capacity to envision 5.Insist on equal chances to access the leading positions, by working on one's own leadership qualities 6.Insist on the fact that the leader is also a subordinate 7. Justify then, the necessity to obey 8.Insist on the fact that the employee and the company are working toward a common goal, and that we share then, the same interests 9.Then, not working toward this goal, would be working against one's own interests 10.Encourage him toward positive thinking, and to work harder for the company 11. Tell him that he is the best, and that's the reason why he is working for the company.
